If there’s one thing that can sweeten up even the gloomiest of days, it’s chocolate. On March 9, 2024, JLIC Toronto treated its community members to an absolutely delectable experience with none other than Noir Deluxe, a rising star in the Toronto chocolate scene. The chocolate making event was organized by a Yavneh Fellow, Liora Benmergui and the Yavneh Canada Regional Coordinator, Rebecca (Assor) Schwarz.
Picture this: a room filled with eager chocolate enthusiasts, all ready to embark on a journey through the tantalizing world of chocolate making. With the guidance of Zohar Goldshtein, the mastermind behind Noir Deluxe, about 40 members of the JLIC community gathered at Shaarei Shomayim for a chocolate workshop like no other.
The evening kicked off with a delightful dive into the history of chocolate. Zoha shared some of the history of chocolate and the origins of those cocoa beans, their journey from far-flung corners of the globe to consumer’s eager hands, and the magical transformation they undergo to become the rich, velvety treat we all adore.
But this wasn’t just a history lesson; it was a hands-on adventure into the world of chocolate craftsmanship. From the basics of tempering chocolate to the intricacies of creating stunning confections, attendees were guided through every step of the process. It was like stepping into Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, minus the Oompa Loompas (although no one would have complained if they showed up!).
Under the expert tutelage of Zohar Goldshtein, the group delved into the secrets of flavor combinations, experimenting with everything from classic pairings like dark chocolate and orange to more adventurous blends like sea salt and caramel. With each truffle they crafted, they discovered a new world of taste and texture, finding joy in the art of creation.
And let’s not forget the best part: the tasting! As connoisseurs of fine chocolate, everyone was treated to a sampling of Noir Deluxe’s finest creations. From silky smooth ganaches to crunchy pralines, each bite was a symphony of flavors, a testament to the passion and expertise that goes into every one of their products.
According to Noir Deluxe, their truffles are the epitome of chocolate perfection, and the JLIC community couldn’t agree more. With each bite, they were transported to chocolate heaven, savoring every moment of pure bliss.
As the workshop drew to a close, everyone said goodnight to their friends, but not before stocking up on their own boxes of handcrafted truffles. With smiles on their faces and chocolate on their minds, everyone left Shaarei Shomayim feeling inspired, invigorated, and just a little bit chocolaty.
