Simchat Torah is traditionally a moment in the community calendar when we honor members of the outgoing class for what they have contributed in their time until now at NYU. This wasn’t possible in the normal way this year as much of our student body is scattered across the country. And so instead we asked our ten honorees to each record a dvar torah (chatan bereishit, chatan torah, one for each book of chumash, one for the haftara, neviim, ketuvim). We released two videos for each day of chol hamoed and each honoree, of course, had another friend roast them.

All the videos can be viewed here. It was a lovely way to celebrate them and keep the community together even when physically distant
Recommend this video for a beautiful evocation of what the celebration meant
