The NYU Student Affairs Hallmark Award
is an annual award designed to celebrate best practices and promote community within the Division of Student Affairs, and to promote the Division’s use and recognition of the five Student Affairs hallmarks – learning, community, diversity, wellness, and quality service.
Rabbi Yehuda Sarna of the Bronfman Center received a 2010 Hallmark Award for his excellence in all five of these hallmarks!
Rabbi Yehuda Sarna’s official job title is vague – University Chaplain for NYU and Rabbi of the Bronfman Center. It’s undoubtedly an impressive position, serving as the religious leader for roughly 12,000 Jewish undergraduate and graduate students as well as young professionals in the Greenwich Village area. But what is unknown to the naked eye or someone simply reading up about him online, is that his title, which by nature should encompass the work that he does, falls extremely short.
He quadrupled the size and vigor of the Jewish community on campus so far, during his 8 years as Rabbi of the Bronfman Center, and endlessly aids the NYU community at large. As part of the greater NYU community, every student, donor, parent, and friend is privileged to witness his genuine generosity and unparalleled dedication first hand. He warmly continues to go above and beyond his call of duty, and on top of that, truly enjoys offering his services and inspiring others. He’s a big picture person – never fully satisfied with what he’s accomplished and is ALWAYS striving to do more for the community and to be better. Rabbi Sarna brings a supreme, fun-loving energy to the workplace and effectively balances supervision and inspiration, along with being a friendly pillar of support.
The Bronfman Center would like to formally congratulate Rabbi Sarna on receiving this beautiful award!
