Last Shabbat, I had the privilege of sharing the holiday with very good friends in the comfort of their home. With the financial support of friends and friends collective (I believe Hillel had something to do with it), we shared kosher food, stories and sang until the wee hours of the night. With at least 40 people packed into a 1930s-build Gainesville house, there was somehow just enough room for everyone. Like Americans should be doing on Thanksgiving, we couldn’t say no to anyone. I encourage everyone who has the chance to move the Torah and set up an Eruv to hold services and celebrate Shabbat in your home, with the people who make you feel all cozy inside – it was an experience I will not soon forget.
